Thinking of Drinking: Climate Change

Johnny's Half Shell, located at 400 North Capitol Street, NW, recently debuted their newly renovated patio and refreshing new summer cocktails, featuring all-American, handcrafted spirits.

Owners John Fulchino and Ann Cashion spent $135,000 renovating the 95-seat, 1,000-sqaure-foot space, which is defined by ten 30-foot high marble columns.  I stopped in to check it out.  I was completely impressed by the passed appetizers including fresh oysters, fried oysters, seared tuna sandwiches, shrimp and more.

On a hot day, a Climate Change is just what you need.  This refreshing cocktail (only $5) is made with ice cold vodka infused with fresh squeezed grapefruit juice and a splash of cranberry.

1.5oz. Vodka
3oz. fresh grapefruit juice
.5oz. cranberry juice

Chill vodka, fresh squeezed grapefruit juice (do not buy can sweetened!), and a splash of good quality cranberry juice...shake vigorously and pour into highball glass over ice...garnish with a thin slice of grapefruit.
